Before becoming the CEO of Avista Capital Partners in New York, Thompson Dean attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics and foreign affairs. In preparation for his career at Avista, Thompson Dean also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
